Life's a Pitch: Group Task 1

THE TASK:

1. Identify 5 examples of company/studio names that you like and of course have a reason WHY! + look at the range of products that they used their identity on or any other ways they branded themselves! (maybe a video, or a flash-mob)

(johns task)

We had a meeting to discuss our name, the five things we will offer and who to. We began by going round and saying what part of graphic design we liked and if anyone else agreed they would say so.

  • Branding
  • Packaging
  • Publication
  • Web design
  • Promotion
  • Way finding
  • Type
  • Motion
  • Visual merchandise
  • Interactive
  • Installations
There were some areas such as branding which were popular between us all. Tom mentioned about exhibitions and how we could focus on that bringing all our skills and interests to one. This was a good idea but we started getting side tracked and lost focus as to what we needed to sort out because we were already trying to decide wether we just offer exhibitions or we just specialise etc. We discussed name briefly as no one had particularly thought about it. I mentioned that I had thought about the word beehive and how we could bring the buzz to a brand and word connotations and logo possibilities that had come to mind which went down well. We decided to go away and think about we all want to do for our 5 things and to think more about a name and regroup later.

We regrouped before mondays PPP lecture and brainstormed names:

Ones we liked:

  • hive
  • swarm
  • buzz off
  • tessellatte
  • keep
  • keeper
  • beehaus
  • honey
  • honee
  • hexic studio
We decided our five services were branding, publications, packaging, promotion, visual merchandise and our commercial & corporate companies.
