Use of Colour in Branding

I was struggling with colour so I looked at self promotional material and at the colours people used and how they used it.

This is a bright red applied across everything taking the majority the object minus the white text. It's bold and bright and consistent throughout all the formats.

It also then is translated across to postage formats where the stock takes the colour colour. This doesn't alter the branding though and it remains consistent.

The colour is very subtle and applied to the edging of the business card. The logo is actually embossed on the white.

These uses a combination of yellow and soft black/grey. This has a more professional and corporate appearance which show how the layout and colour makes an impression of a certain type of designer.

I found this image of business cards and it is obvious that the neon green immediately stands out due to it's brightness.

When looking more into this image it turned out that they were all for the same person and just created a range of the same design using different colours. This is an example of how you don't have to be limited to one or two colours across your branding and the multi use of colour can be applied but you have to be focused in the use of colour otherwise it won't work.

This is an example of one bright colour being used in branding but instead of it taking the majority of the format like the red example it is applied differently. The band is eye catching but when using body copy and information the colour is applied to the text and the background is maintained as white.

This is really eye catching and I love the bright, fun and friendly feel of this branding. I feel that the reason I was struggling with choosing a colour is because I don't want to be defined by one or two colours. I love different colours and the different qualities they can hold as well as the vibrance they can give to design. I want to express myself as vibrant and open and so the multi use of colour might be something to consider and take forward in a way to stand out.
